AEG Airsoft Guns and Air Soft Electric Gun

If you've done much research on AEG Airsoft Guns, you may have discovered that some countries have placed stiff limitations on these Airsoft Guns. That might have you worried about their legality in the United States. The good news is you don't have to worry. Except for a few limitations in a handful of cities, you can enjoy your airsoft electric gun in the U. S. without much concern. However, having all the information could help make your decision to buy an AEG airsoft gun or to join an Airsoft team a little easier so let's look at some of the laws.

Age Restrictions for Airsoft Rifles

In some parts of the world, you have to be a certain age in order to buy any type of airsoft guns. In Sweden, for example, you must be at least 18 years of age. According to some enthusiasts in the UK, parents are not legally allowed to give an airsoft gun to a child as a gift if that child is under the age of 17. Those are some tough restrictions. In the United States, however, you can purchase one of these weapons at any age. The difference is that they are not classified as firearms under federal law in the United States.

The Orange Tip on All Airsoft Weapons

One restriction that you do need to follow for your own protection is leaving the orange tip on the barrel. Even though the tip does take away from the realistic appearance of the weapon, it serves as an immediate signal to others that you are not carrying a real firearm. If you've seen the weapons yourself, you know how closely some of these resemble actual guns.

Law enforcement officials may not always be able to tell the difference easily so without that orange tip you could find yourself in some big trouble with the police. In a serious situation, you could even get killed because the police are allowed to take action if they suspect you have a gun, even if that gun later turns out to be an electric airsoft weapon. Just remember, the orange tip isn't meant to ruin your fun or take away from the realism, but to protect you from running afoul of your local authorities.

City Restrictions and Airsoft Pistols

While federally, you won't have any trouble having an AEG airsoft guns or using it, there are a few cities with ordinances and laws that make the situation a little more difficult. In the state of Michigan, you can't buy any of these weapons without the orange tip. That's true in several other states as well, but in St. Paul, Minnesota your gun must also be either clear or brightly colored. Either of those choices will definitely take away from the realism, but the purpose is the same: protecting users from mistaken identity.

Other areas have even stricter regulations. In New York City, for instance, you can't own an AEG Airsoft Guns unless you have a license. That's not true for the rest of the state, however. Just remember that before you buy, you should ask around about the laws in your city and state to make sure you can fully enjoy your new gun without having to worry about inadvertently getting into trouble.
